HEY so I’m gonna set up a queue for this blog to reblog the lovely SLARPG fanart y’all have drawn over the last 16 months. I cherish literally every piece of fanart I get and it needs to be on the devlog too

Lady Provence (the medium one) is very no-nonsense and takes her job much more seriously than the other two. As the youngest and least experienced paladin and the newly appointed leader of the team, she’s eager to prove herself by making sure everything gets done by the book. She has a hard time admitting when she’s wrong, and the other two poke fun at her for it. She’s not the most personable, but I wouldn’t describe her as mean, just very focused on doing her job. Ultimately, all she wants is to keep Greenridge safe
Rhett (the small one), who’s actually the oldest and most experienced member of the group, is scrappy and irresponsible. Her experience and job security allow her to have a very nonchalant attitude about her work. She loves to fight, but she’ll frequently put off other paladin duties that she finds boring. Luckily for her, Provence takes care of most of the team’s busywork herself, just to make sure things get done the way she likes. Rhett’s one true love is huge swords
Holly (the big one) is also a natural fighter who’s very proud of her immense physical strength, but she’s a bit more responsible than Rhett. She’s a very straightforward person who wears her emotions on her sleeves, and she’s easy to talk to. She likes to support people any way she can, which is part of why she’s a healer. She’s also a pretty close friend of Melody’s. Holly’s confidence is something Melody looks up to. She also LOVES wrestling, which is immediately evident from her fighting style

SO spell books are like Materia? Also are they made of chocolate? (Chocolate Materia?)
I wouldn’t really compare it to Materia, no. In FF7 you can equip a lot of different Materia at once, and they’ll usually only teach you one family of spells. Also you have to level them up
In SLARPG, spellbooks give you a handful of different abilities all at once, and you don’t have to level them up or anything, but you can only equip one per party member

oh i love castlevania uhhhhhhhh…harmony of dissonance, i think? i can’t even make this joke cause i don’t remember which gba castlevania was the one with the elemental spellbooks lol
Oh did they do something like that? I’ve never played that or Circle of the Moon so I wouldn’t know haha
Honestly the spellbook system was inspired by like, trading card game/Mega Man Battle Network style “decks” of attacks. I liked the idea of equipping different premade sets of abilities with their own perks and disadvantages, especially as a way of giving players more abilities to play with while keeping things relatively balanced. That evolved into the system in SLARPG where you can purchase and equip premade sets of spells
No that’s her emergency fund, also it’s too high up to reach
I mean i think it’s pretty obvious that a game about a trans girl and her butch lesbian girlfriend would appeal more to lgbt folks but it’s not like you’re gonna go to jail if you’re straight and you play the game lol
I’ll be elaborating on spellbooks and the types of abilties you can gain from them later! But basically, the idea is that every party member has a set of basic abilities that they learn as they level up, and they can also all equip one spellbook at a time to expand their movesets
Spellbooks can either be purchased from a shop or found out in the world, and as long as a spellbook is equipped, that party member will instantly be able to use all the abilities taught by that book. Maybe you think Claire could use some healing spells, or Jodie could use some fire attacks. If you wanna try out something different, you can just swap out books
Thanks! Allison’s last name was just taken from a town in southern California, because generally when I can’t think of a last name I’ll turn to town names. That’s a tip I learned from Tim Schafer via some behind the scenes material for Broken Age
Many months of work later, here it is: the first trailer for Super Lesbian Animal RPG! Please enjoy
SLARPG is a short, turn-based RPG following the story of Melody Amaranth, a kindhearted but meek transgender fox who’s decided to learn healing magic and become a paladin. She’s joined by her adventurous girlfriend Allison, as well as their friends Claire (a sarcastic, rule-bending witch)(she is also trans) and Jodie (a dependable, somewhat motherly knight). Over the course of the story, our inexperienced heroes will meddle with forces beyond their control and find themselves responsible for the fate of their quaint little hometown. They’ll also fight some spherical frogs, travel to a forgotten land in the sky, befriend a robot or two, and anger the local librarian. But that should go without saying. It will be out in 2017. For more info, you can check the game’s FAQ

I’ve gotten a lot of asks about the game, unsurprisingly, so I’m putting together this handy dandy FAQ to answer most of the common questions. I’ll be updating this post regularly throughout the game’s development
If you’re a new follower or this got reblogged by someone and you don’t even know what a Super Lesbian Animal RPG is then I’d suggest watching the game’s first trailer or viewing the game’s presskit on Indie DB, or you can check the #SLARPG tag on my blog
