Super Lesbian Animal RPG’s presskit and FAQ have both been updated! Go have a look. In the meantime, here’s a smattering of fresh screenshots (of old content that’s been touched up a bit) I took for said presskit and FAQ updates
I wanted to draw a new group shot of the Super Lesbian Animal RPG party to replace the rapidly aging 2015 promo art and whoops!! It ended up taking the better part of a week, because I made it the most intricate piece of digital art I’ve ever drawn. But it’s really nice to have a new piece of art to represent the game with the whole party together in an actual environment
Hmm... In the name, what exactly is the word "super" modifying? Is it a super RPG? An RPG about super animals? Or are they just super lesbians? Come to think of it, are they lesbian animals or is it a lesbian RPG And is the answer "all of the above"?
okay so the game’s logo is inspired by the logo for super street fighter ii turbo. see
so i’d say based on the logo, the “super” is modifying the lesbian animal rpg. whether or not “lesbian” is modifying “animal” or “rpg” is another story i guess but i would probably say it’s modifying animal
HOWEVER, the title started as a joke placeholder title waaay back when and i think it was a play on super mario rpg. in that title “super” is specifically modifying “mario,” not “mario rpg.” so you could make a case for the “super” in “super lesbian animal rpg” referring to the lesbian animals, i suppose, if you really wanted to
It’s been a while since I had anything substantial to show from Super Lesbian Animal RPG, with much of what I’m working on being spoilers. So let’s fix that with some new NPCs (who I’d previously talked about on my Patreon)!
Starting at the top left:
Beverly, by far the most significant character of this bunch, works in a restaurant in Greenridge and is friends with our protagonists. Beverly doesn’t really get herself involved with dangerous magical adventures, thinking that it’s all way over her head, but her optimistic attitude will make her a good friend to have in these trying times. Claire works at the same restaurant and has a crush on her
Chet is Rhett’s brother. He’s very buff, and he has a desk job in the Guardian’s Tower. He’s nice
Catherine is a middle aged cat lady who runs a local magic shop. You’ll probably be giving her a lot of business. When not running said shop, she takes care of many of the flowers seen around town
Pepper is Catherine’s young daughter. Her grandpa has told her too many stories from his youth about his many adventures. When she grows up, she wants to be evil
And finally, Bartholomew is Pepper’s grandpa (and Catherine’s regular pa). He is old
All of these characters were designed by @exclamationpointman with some guidance and revisions from me. I’ll probably post his concept art for them soon. These sprites were a long time coming!
been sprucing up the intro of SLARPG tonight! i improved the nighttime palette that i was never quite happy with and tweaked the sprites a bit (mainly melody’s face and arms). also finally made night palette versions of the new grass tiles. old version (from the december trailer) is on the left, new on the right

She’s joined by her adventurous girlfriend Allison, as well as their friends Claire (a sarcastic, rule-bending witch)(she is also trans) and Jodie (a dependable, somewhat motherly knight). Over the course of the story, our inexperienced heroes will meddle with forces beyond their control and find themselves responsible for the fate of their quaint little hometown. They’ll also fight some spherical frogs, travel to a forgotten land in the sky, befriend a robot or two, and anger the local librarian. But that should go without saying.
I previously showed off the newly renovated downstairs portion of Melody’s house in Super Lesbian Animal RPG, and now here’s how it’s looking upstairs! The fact that her house has a bathroom definitely without a shadow of a doubt makes this the most ambitious 16-bit-ish JRPG ever conceived
Melody’s house in Super Lesbian Animal RPG has gotten a much needed fresh coat of paint! I was never quite happy with the original palette that matched melody’s color scheme, but it’s feeling very cozy now
Melody’s house will be one of several locations shown in the Patreon-supported SLARPG prologue comic, so it’s good to have a finalized color palette before I have to draw it
