It’s been quite a while, so here’s another new NPC from @slarpg! Reverie, the planet on which Super Lesbian Animal RPG takes place, is home to many sapient species beside beast folk. For instance, here’s the first of several orc NPCs!
This particular orc, like most NPCs shown so far, was designed by @exclamationpointman. She doesn’t currently have a name, but she’s an adventurer who lives in Greenridge. She’s a friendly regular here at Higgledy Piggledy’s, and I’m sure she’s got some very interesting stories to share with the party…
This character was shown a month earlier on my Patreon, so if you’re into the project, consider throwing me a buck or two a month for more sneak peeks!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from the Super Lesbian Animal RPG crew!! have some gingerbread animals
Hey, so, quick heads up! As I’m sure everyone knows at this point, Tumblr has made the hasty decision to universally ban all adult content. Now, obviously, SLARPG doesn’t have any adult content. But Tumblr’s algorithms or whatever DID decide that a few posts on here were adult and had them flagged. I’ve tried to appeal the ones I can, but for reblogs there’s apparently just, nothing you can do? God, this website sucks.
Anyway, it doesn’t seem like they’re deleting blogs for these flagged posts, only hiding the posts in question. But better safe than sorry, I suppose! And also, I realize that a lot of folks are leaving Tumblr over this anyway.
I don’t plan on abandoning this blog, but here’s where to follow Super Lesbian Animal RPG’s progress elsewhere on the web:
Hey everyone! I’m very pleased to announce that this Saturday (November 10th, 2018) at 7pm EST I’ll be hosting the first ever Super Lesbian Animal RPG dev team Q&A stream!
I’ll be joined by lead NPC designer @exclamationpointman and music composer @bumblequinn to discuss our work on the game, answer your questions, explain how some things seen in the demo came to be, and tease some stuff we have in store! It’ll be sort of like the podcast-y thing I did with Anthony forever ago to talk about NPCs, except Bee will be there this time, and it’ll be live! We may even have a little bit of new stuff to talk about…
(Excuse me if this is a dupe but IDK if it sent the first time) Loved the demo! The writing and chars are just 😙👌💯 Star power and Allison's aimed abilities are awesome mechanics. However, I have trouble with Melody's early game (i.e., what I expect to be the demo's duration but not the full game). The team doesn't always need topping off of health, so I'm left with either attacking or kissing Allison (nice but it doesn't stack). Hope there'll be more support abilities in the final game.
Also, how is resource management intended to work in SLARPG? I feel like it’d be possible to run out of MP and recovery items within the first dungeon if you’re really bad.
Glad you enjoyed it!
So in the early game, Allison (as the physical attacker) is intended to be the most obviously and consistently useful character in your party. Her various physical attacks are useful basically every turn in the early game. As magic users, Melody and Claire both have obvious uses with their starter abilities, but they both gain more things to do in combat as you level them up and get into more complex fights later in the game. (If Melody has nothing else to do, though, you can just let her attack. She has higher physical attack than Claire)
As for resource management, you CAN run out of recovery items in the demo, but like. I’m not sure it’s mathematically possible to lose due to attrition there if you’re playing halfway decently. There’s a finite number of enemies who can only really do so much damage to you. At least, if it IS something folks will encounter, I haven’t heard about it from anyone
(I’d say this is especially unlikely with Melody’s Star Power abilities. Melody can always gain SP with kisses if she’s out of MP, and depending on which specialization you chose she either gets another HP recover, an MP recover, or an offensive spell to spend her SP on at level 2)
If this IS an issue people have faced without telling me, though, I can always just throw some more recovery items in the dungeon
big shout out to @fattoads who designed the iconic frog ball
babblingfishes said: Could you do the greenlight thing? (I have no idea how steam works tbh)
Greenlight isn’t a thing anymore! Now they have “Steam Direct” where you basically just give Valve $100, fill out some paperwork, and wait like a month for them to screen your info and then they let you publish stuff
I’m not worried about the process of getting on Steam so much as having to deal with harassment and spam from reactionary gamers on Steam in exchange for the possibility of a little more publicity
i'm definitely one of those people that really only buy on steam, because that's pretty much where my whole library is? though it sucks to hear that valve takes such a big cut. you could always maybe bump the price up, to make up for that? personally, i know i wouldn't mind paying a bit extra!
For the record Steam takes roughly 30% of all sales, which is pretty standard, whereas on itch their default cut is 10% (although they’ll let you set it higher or lower). That’s on top of stuff like small payment processor fees and taxes and whatnot, which really add up for cheaper games
If you wanna buy stuff that’s only on itch and not Steam though, just buy it on itch and add it to your Steam library as a non-Steam game. itch doesn’t bite. I promise
It sucks that RPG maker can't export to the Switch, given that not only do indie games get more attention on the Switch, I /think/ the Switch community isn't nearly as hostile, along with how you can't even be directly hostile towards devs on the switch either.
I’d honestly love to put stuff out for Switch but yeah. That’s not really possible unless I wanted to rebuild the whole game from the ground up in Game Maker or something
