Is anyone trans?? Sorry if this has been answered before or something, I didn't get Tumblr notifs for half a year

Melody and Claire are both trans! So are some other supporting characters, but the party members take precedence of course

is the villain a tumblr husband? a onceler?
Anonymous

the main villain of SLARPG is the Once-ler, yes

So will the villain be a robotnik analog or will they be starscream analog?

you aren’t thinking lesbian enough

As a minor update, we now have a newly updated SLARPG FAQ page! The old FAQ was just an old read more post on my main blog that I kept editing every few months, and it was high time I made a real one. I also finally got around to making the Meet the Team page

Time for a big Super Lesbian Animal RPG status update!

Our goal for the start of the year was to get a good chunk of the game from the end of the demo onward playable. Not quite finished (there are still a few placeholder assets here and there), but most of the way there, and fully playable for internal testing. I’m now very, very pleased to say that this goal has been reached!

Yesterday I sat down and had a big playtesting session with Anthony. We went through quite a bit of the game in one sitting! We saw new areas, new characters, met one of the actual antagonists of the story, got our first taste of the Spellbook system, and more! I gathered a lot of good feedback regarding balance and directing players where to go, and we found a few bugs, but overall this portion of the game already seems to be in a very good state!

Including both the content of the demo and all of the new stuff, it took him over three hours to see everything. It was a lot of stuff! And this was all still early in the story. I definitely think it’s safe to say my original estimate of the game being 4 to 6 hours long was low. I guess cramming this thing full of a ton of NPCs and enemies, making every area larger and more varied, and greatly expanding the story ended up making for a longer game, huh. Who knew

Anyway, with this out of the way, I’ll be doing a bit more testing with friends. In the coming weeks, I’ll be moving on to the next hour or so of the game, which we’ve already completed quite a bit of work on! It really feels like the game is coming together now, and we’re very excited to keep moving forward

As a reminder, this does not mean we’ll be releasing any new content. SLARPG is not an episodic game. The demo was the only thing we planned on releasing ahead of the full paid release of the game. But we’re making great progress, and are excited about eventually letting everyone experience the full story. And as always, you can help support development of the game on Patreon

Today marks the second anniversary of the SLARPG demo’s release! The game is still not done. But we’re workin’ hard on it

As a reminder, this blog’s ask box is always open for all your burning questions about the game, or the characters, or whatever

(this is like the least exciting thing i’ve been working on lately, but everything else is huge spoilers)

ponett:

here’s some SLARPG battle screenshots of previously revealed enemies to remind newer followers that there are, in fact, enemies in the game other than the ones in the demo and the Frog Ball (also I touched up the palettes on two of these backgrounds)

ponett:

since i’ve been working on these, here’s a little look at what the battle backgrounds in slarpg look like before and after the Dithering Magic and palette adjustments

this style started out as a quick and dirty way for me to recycle assets to make simple battle backgrounds, but i ended up really liking it and it became a signature part of the game’s look. remember to recycle, kids

As a quick status update, here are the goals for SLARPG for the new year:

1. Finally finish getting the rest of acts 1 and 2 to alpha so that the game can be played all the way up through the second dungeon in rough form. (SLARPG’s story is divided into five acts, and act 2 is possibly the largest, so this will be a major milestone.) I was making good progress on this goal last fall, but then life kinda got in the way and I had to take a couple months off to focus on commission work to not go broke, so that got postponed. I’m confident in my ability to get this done in Q1 2020, though.

2. After that, private playtesting on acts 1 and 2 with friends. I have been dying to get this new content playtested basically since the demo came out.

3. Then after that, put together a new trailer.

4. And alongside the trailer, we may open preorders for the full game on itch.io. Maybe. I’m thinking about it.

In theory all of this should only take a few months and leave us with plenty of time to work on later parts of the game throughout the rest of the year, but again, life really gets in the way when most of the work on a game is being done by only two people. So we’ll see. But fingers crossed.

welcome to the decade in which SLARPG comes out

I just played the demo and sadly had nothing to donate, but once the full release is available I am 100% buying it, and buying it a couple more times to gift to friends. The art style is adorable, the humour is cute and refreshing, and the gameplay is more challenging than I expected and I love it so much. I can't wait for more and thank you so much for making this adorable game ❤️

Thank you so much!! Yeah don’t feel bad if you can’t donate for the demo y’all, I’m just happy that people are checking it out and enjoying it and telling their friends

Happy Holidays from the SLARPG team!
